This is the third part of my journey with cancer. It is a very important part for me since it talks about a very important part in all our cancer journeys...surrender, trust, and peace.
I learned this early on in my journey, and as you will hear in the podcast, it was something I really needed and know God led me to find. I believe it is a part of everyone's journey.
This episode takes you through the early part of my journey after I was "born again" and fully saw God at work in my cancer journey. It is a pivotal point that helped me get through many difficult situations in my journey.
I hope you enjoy it and can be inspired and encouraged by listening to another part of my story.
EPISODE NOTES
The morning of my surgery, as they were wheeling me into the operating room, I remember thinking one thing: what exactly is going to happen to my bladder? In this episode — Part Three of my story — I share what surrender and peace in a cancer journey truly look like, and how God showed up in the most powerful ways when I needed Him most.
Two God Moments That Changed Everything
This episode goes deep into two of the biggest God Moments of my entire cancer journey. The first happened on the operating table, just before I went to sleep. The second happened in my hospital room after surgery, when I received news I was not prepared for — and discovered something about surrender that changed everything.
A Word to Caregivers and Family Members
Before I go on, I want to speak directly to the caregivers and family members listening. While I was on the operating table in total peace, my wife Lorrie and my daughter were in the waiting room for over four hours, dealing with fear, uncertainty, and doubt — including a terrifying code blue announcement over the loudspeaker. Their experience is just as real and just as important as mine. Furthermore, I talk about why doubt and fear do not make you any less of a believer. In fact, they are part of how God grows us.
Surrender and Peace in a Cancer Journey — What I Learned
The heart of this episode is surrender. Whether I was at total peace or simply too beaten up from surgery to fight anymore, I came to realize that both are really the same thing — surrendering to God. And as Romans 8:31 reminds us, "If God is for us, who can be against us?" Surrender, I learned, is not giving up. It is giving it up to the one who is ultimately in control of everything.
