In this episode, I want to talk with you about something that sits right at the center of our faith — something that can bring us hope when life feels heavy, give us strength when we feel worn down, and peace when the future feels uncertain.
I want to talk about Easter.
Not Easter as a holiday — but Easter as a story. A story about love, sacrifice, waiting, and victory that mirrors the journey so many of us have faced, whether you are walking through cancer right now, caring for someone who is, or living in remission as I am today.
Specifically, I want to share my thoughts about Easter through the lens of Good Friday, Silent Saturday, and Resurrection Sunday — because each one speaks directly into the heart of your cancer journey.
Good Friday reminds us that God understands suffering. Silent Saturday reminds us that God is working, even when we cannot see it. And Resurrection Sunday reminds us that hope is alive because Jesus is alive.
So let's walk through these three days together and talk about what Easter really means for your life today — and how we truly are NEVER ALONE in our journey.
EPISODE NOTES
GOOD FRIDAY - GOD UNDERSTANDS YOUR PAIN
Good Friday is the day everything fell apart — the day Jesus suffered, the day the disciples watched their hope die, and the day the world went dark.
For those of us walking through cancer, a Good Friday moment is not hard to identify. It is the day of diagnosis, when the doctor says something that changes everything and the ground shifts under your feet. In that moment, you find yourself saying, "God, this hurts. I didn't see this coming, and I don't know what to do."
And here is the thing: Jesus knows exactly what that feels like. He did not avoid suffering — He stepped right into it. Moreover, even in the darkness of that Friday, God was still working. Nothing had changed — not His plan, not His love, not His purpose. Everything was still moving forward, exactly as God intended.
Jeremiah 29:11 speaks directly into Good Friday moments like these:
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." JEREMIAH 29:11 NIV
Good Friday reminds us that God is still good, even when life hurts. He is still with us and still for us — and He has not let go of your story, not even on the hardest days.
SILENT SATURDAY - GOD IS WORKING EVEN WHEN YOU CAN'T SEE IT
Saturday is the day of waiting — and honestly, it may be the hardest day of all.
The disciples did not know what God was doing. Prayers felt unanswered. Hope felt distant. Heaven felt quiet. And many of you know exactly what it is like to live in a long Saturday — waiting for results, waiting for healing, waiting for answers, waiting for the next step.
In your Easter cancer journey, Silent Saturday is the season when you whisper, "God, where are you?" — and it feels like heaven is not answering.
Nevertheless, Saturday was never the end of the story. It never is. Even in the silence, God was preparing for resurrection. Even when nothing seemed to be moving, in fact, everything was moving.
Proverbs 3:5-6 gives us an anchor for exactly these moments:
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6
If you feel like you are living in a long Saturday right now, take heart. You are not failing, not forgotten, and not abandoned — you are simply in the middle of the story, not the end.
RESURRECTION SUNDAY - HOPE IN YOUR EASTER CANCER JOURNEY
Then Sunday arrives and changes everything.
The stone rolled away, the grave was empty, and Jesus rose. And because He rose, everything about your Easter cancer journey is different — not because your circumstances suddenly improved, but because Jesus is alive.
Because He rose, hope is not fragile — it is alive. Strength is not temporary — it is renewed. Peace is not circumstantial — it is supernatural. Your future is not uncertain — it is held by God. And you are not alone — Christ has risen and given us the Holy Spirit. What an extraordinary gift that is.
Isaiah 40:31 makes this personal:
"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:31 NIV
Consequently, our strength is renewed not because we try harder — but because Jesus lives. Our hope is restored not because life gets easier — but because Jesus reigns. And our peace is sustained not because circumstances settle — but because the Holy Spirit lives in us.
THE HOLY SPIRIT - YOUR COMPANION THROUGH IT ALL
Jesus did not rise and then leave us to figure life out alone. Instead, He gave us the Holy Spirit — our Comforter, our Counselor, our Helper, our Advocate.
The Spirit whispers truth when fear gets loud, strengthens us when our bodies and emotions feel weak, and reminds us that even when life feels unpredictable, God is steady, faithful, and present. Your miracle may not be physical healing — but your miracle will be deeper faith, renewed strength, unshakable hope, and supernatural peace. Ultimately, that is a miracle no diagnosis can ever take away.
MORE SCRIPTURES FOR YOUR JOURNEY
A few more verses that reinforce what Easter means for where you are today:
Psalm 34:18 — "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
Romans 8:28 — "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him."
John 14:26-27 — "The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things... Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you."
2 Corinthians 4:16 — "Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day."
These verses do not promise an easy life. However, they promise a faithful God.
YOUR STORY IS AN EASTER STORY
No matter where you are in your Easter cancer journey right now — in a Good Friday moment, a Silent Saturday season, or longing for Resurrection Sunday — Jesus is with you in it.
Easter is not a one-day event. It is a pattern God uses over and over in our lives. Pain. Waiting. Resurrection. Loss. Silence. Renewal. Fear. Uncertainty. Hope. This is the rhythm of redemption, the heartbeat of Easter, and the promise of Jesus — and your story is part of it.
No matter what you are facing on your journey with cancer or in life, remember: you are NEVER ALONE. Jesus and the Holy Spirit are always with you and ready to help. All you have to do is ask, give it all to Jesus, and let him go to work.
May the risen Christ renew your strength, may the Holy Spirit fill you with peace, and may you know — deep in your soul — that you are held, seen, known, and never alone.
